What is a chronic disease?

 

Diabetes, asthma, fibromyalgia … Living daily with a chronic illness is far from easy.

 

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is called “chronic disease” in the case of a long-term condition that evolves over time.
It is not always easy to recognize someone with a chronic illness. However, this type of disease is responsible for 17 million deaths worldwide each year 1 . In France, it is estimated that 15 million people (approximately 20% of the population) are suffering from a chronic disease 2 against 30% of the population in Canada 3 .

 

More or less severe and debilitating depending on the case, it may be diabetes , heart disease, cancer , stroke , ] hypertension , polyarthritis , multiple sclerosis , Crohn’s disease , Alzheimer or Parkinson’s , etc…
