Why This
Album Is So Great:
"Violator" is one of DM's darkest albums. Over the years, DM have made
one good album after another, but this 1990's trip to Melancholy Land just tops them all.
The use of synthesizers is much more minimalistic on this album and this really suits the
whole atmosphere well. "Enjoy The Silence" and "Policy Of Truth" are
already DM classics, but songs like "World In My Eyes" and "Halo"
contribute to an album that also stands as DM's best because of the feeling and gloom of
the album. It's really an artistic success. Their latest studio album "Ultra"
has some of the same tendencies, even though it does not quite match "Violator".
"Ultra" is a little bit too smooth where "Violator" carries a lot of
edge.
Overall Rating (on a scale from 1 to 10): 8
