Why This
Album Is So Great:
Compared to Del Amitri albums before this, "Twisted" is characterized
by having more guitars and being less straightforward. The tunes are still very catchy but
it takes a little longer to figure them out. Others might call it Del Amitri's mature
album...or I don't know. It was a tough decision choosing between this and their latest
"Some Other Sucker's Parade", but the added complexity was probably what made me
choose "Twisted". Not that Del Amitri have ever been very complex in their
soundscape. What really appeals to me about them is their great sense for melodic songs
spiced up with an extremely bittersweet attitude towards the man-woman thing. Listen to a
song like "Driving With The Brakes On" and find your sight getting distant while
you think of past/present love encounters. The edition I have also includes a 6-track live
CD.
