Why This
Album Is So Great:
I haven't known The Watchmen for very long, but this album has totally gotten my
attention back to genuine rock music that focuses on one thing only: a great song with
melody and nerve. The Watchmen's formula is that simple, but it's carried out with extreme
perfection. A description of the band would be somewhere between Live and Del Amitri, two
of my other favourites. "Silent Radar" contains so many great tunes, but I feel
the need to mention "Brighter Hell". Rarely has a rock song carried that much
emotion and I strongly suggest that any rock fan out there gives it a listen. Otherwise, I
guess the sound on the album is very American - however, The Watchmen are Canadian and
this is probably why the album is not just another American mainstream rock album. Far
from that. "Silent Radar" is good enough to set new standards. Forget Hootie
& The Blowfish - this is the real thing!!
Overall Rating (on a scale from 1 to 10): 9
