- I generally think that too much money is
being spent on crappy videos today. It seems like one of the success criteria of videos is
to have as many dancers in tank tops as possible and all kinds of huge and glamorous
locations. This is particularly present in the R&B and Rap/Hip Hop genre where style
over contents is the general agenda. However, there are positive experiences to be had.
Take, for example, the new video for Basement Jaxx's
"Where's Your Head At". It's totally cool how they've mixed the people's heads
with the chimpanzees and a good illustration of how a small but brilliant idea will beat
bombastic, braindead productions any day.
- Suzanne
Vega: "Songs In Red And Gray". Fine new album from one of the
best female songwriters around. She's consistently getting better on her albums and more
than six albums into her career that's quite impressive.
- Jupiter
Day. New young Danish band bound to experience success - if the audience
and record company let them. They seem very promising with a sound a bit like Mew, another
great Danish rock band. So it looks like there's finally a new batch of great young bands
on the way on the Danish rock scene. It's been a while...
- Stereophonics
may not be the most exiting of bands but this hillarious statement from an NME reader
really made me laugh: "It's a shame the Stereophonics are so middle of the road. If
they moved to the left or right a bit they might get hit by a car or something". Now
that's twisted humour of the highest quality!
- The Danish act in the popular Popstars television competition about finding the new young
wannabes for a new pop group, EyeQ,
experiencing negative sales. This means people are actually returning more of their albums
to the shops than they're buying. Well, justice moves in mysterious ways...
- Danish U2 cover band Die Herren live. Even though they're just a cover band
like many others, it's impressive to experience their dedication in delivering the music
of their masters. The concert proved to be much greater than what many big
"original" are able to create and proves that if the real thing is hard to get,
second best sometimes isn't so bad.
- Gene
Simmons from Kiss talking in his new biography about the 4600 women he's
had over the years. One can't help but be just a little bit impressed. That sure must
require some degree of maintenance of the machinery...

- Adam Ant
finally losing it after 47 years. The man's been hospitalised after totally losing it
outside a UK nightclub, aApparently a hazard to his own safety. I always thought his music
was a bit wacko - it seems time has proven me right...Also, I generally think it's sad to
see how a growing number among the former rockstars of the past 2-3 decades are dealing
very badly with the fact that they had their time and never will again. Adam Ant, Stuart
Adamson of Big Country, the drummer from Feeder....just a few of the more recent
incidents. I guess it's hard for a former star to realise that the world has moved on and
does no longer revolve around you.
- Courtney
Love being all over the music media for everything BUT her music. The
Nirvana legacy, how she wrote a song about the World Trade Center tragedy before it
happened, and generally her lust for attention is quickly becoming a real drag. Come on,
lady, you made a cracking album with "Celebrity Skin". Why not try that
again.....? I guess one reason could be that she's fallen out with Billy Corgan who had a
very big hand in that album.
