The
Hotlist

THE HOT AND NOT LIST as of February 13th
1999
Le Mec:
Hotlist
The
Cardigans:
"Erase/Rewind". Their best song ever! It really suits the band that they've
gotten a little more edge to their sound. They still sound like delicate softies, but with
much more atmosphere.
Booth And
The Bad Angel. This
constellation of singer Tim Booth from James and Angelo badalamenti (Twin Peaks
soundtrack) has been on my wants list for ages. I finally got the album and it's every bit
as good as I had hoped for. Recommended to all you dreamy, airy pop lovers out there.
Duran
Duran releasing a double
cd with all their 12" mixes on March 15th. yeah, I know it may not be all that big a
thing in the music biz, but to an old Duranie it's still worth mentioning.
Solveig
Sandnes:
"Analog". The former singer of Danish band Lovebites is really on to something
on her debut album. Sounds very similar to earlier Cardigans (same producer).
I finally got my hands on the B-Sides compilation by Del Amitri, "Lousy With Love". It states they
talent. Anyone who's interested in finding it for under 7£ (including shipping etc.)
could check out http://www.cdzone.co.uk.
Notlist
- British band Sleeper. I've listened to
their two albums now without any reaction at all. It's just dull, she's got no voice, and
I strongly suspect that they're only hip in the UK 'cos she looks okay and sleeps with
tons of guys.....!
Kula
Shaker. I've never really liked this overestimated "Indian"
Britpop-band. Most of the time they are just uninteresting - the rest downright annoying!
The Danish
Grammy Awards 1999. I´'m sad to say this, but they turned out to be every
bit as predictable and boring as could be expected. Let's face it, we just don't have that
many great bands here in Denmark. And the ceremony is merely an evening with "you
were good this year - so were you - now, let's get pissed and bill the record
company...!". Well, hey, it might get better next year....(yeah, right!!).
Morten Jordan:
Hotlist
- The song "What It's Like" by Everlast.
Clearly one of the best songs I have heard so far this year. Funky rhythm, crisp acoustic
guitar and stinging lyrics.
- The album "Without you, I'm
nothing" by Placebo. Their glam-punk
style goes straight in with me. Despair and survival in a rotten world. Think early Suede
and you will know what I mean.
- Cymbals
- hit it, and hit it again.
Notlist
- That Everlast basically is a rap-group,
and I therefore probably won't like much of their other stuff.
Danish
daytime radio in general..........why bother?
Bob Hund
will be playing 4 gigs in Denmark and I won't be able to see them.
