The Hotlist What's hot right now!

THE HOT AND NOT LIST as of September 12th 1998

Le Mec:

Hotlist

  • The Watchmen: "Silent Radar". This Canadian band really flies high with great rock music and lands somewhere between Del Amitri and Live. Not a bad place to be and really recommendable...
  • The Beatles. Over the last weeks I've been going through the entire production of this band and really discovered what made them so special. Inspiration is always a tricky thing to discuss, but the way I see it, The Beatles really laid the groundstone for the sound of modern music. Especially the music of the 90's have and obvious debt to The Beatles (Oasis, anyone...?). I always liked the band, but after really listening to them, I really DIG them!!
  • Del Amitri Greatest Hits release just around the corner. As well is a new album from Lloyd Cole.
  • The latest single from Sheryl Crow, "My Favourite Mistake". Holds a lot of promise for the new album on September 21st.
  • Luce Drayton: "Suicidal Angel". I've had her album from 1996 for a while, but this past week I have found out that it contains really great songwriting in a moody atmosphere.

Notlist

  • Simply Red. I just cannot stand this man!!! I mean, doesn't he ever get tired of making totally boring music? Actually, I have the first couple of album by Simply Red. Back in the 80's they were quite good - now it's all just and egotrip for Mick Hucknall. And that disgustingly sweet smile........!

Mike Horse:

I'm sorry to say it, but the Horse is still in Loveland...Hope we'll get him back soon.

Morten Jordan:

Hotlist

  • A free Speaker Bite Me concert in Aarhus last week. Short and a bit fuzzy, but a cool way to spend a Tuesday evening.
  • "All I Need" by Air. Am I getting an ear for this kind of mellow, electronica, ambient stuff, or am I just getting older ? By the way, it's a cute video. (Cute.....? What is happening to me?)
  • 22-Pistepirkko from Finland is playing at Rytmeposten in Odense on 24. September. Weird blues-smurfs from outer space invades Denmark again. Definitely recommendable, but so is ear-plugs!

Notlist

  • OLGA (Online - guitar - archive) on the internet has been closed due to copyright problems. This was THE place for finding chords and tabs for your favorite songs.
  • James Iha's solo-CD. Booooooooooring !
  • The fact that I don't get any comments on my Hot & Not list. (Since Morten Jordan is so desperate to get feedback on his list, please be rough on him. He can take it...)
