- Kristin
Hersh live. All there was on stage were a stool and a small lady with a
couple of acoustic guitars, making the concert a very intimate affair with very few
distractions from the songs. Hersh let everybody into her own twisted universe and for a
moment all the spite and bad experiences of love where out in the open. However, her songs
are very similar in mood and composition which made it difficult to keep the intensity
through the entire show. But that didn't mater - all was forgotten when she played
"Your Ghost".
- Semisonic. They are nowhere near being popstars - they
simply don't have the attitude. But they've done a brilliant album - "All About
Chemistry" - and is a liberating proof that pure talent can sometimes be enough.

- In a time where the music scene is
filled with a growing number of throw-aways, it's comforting to see that whenever some of
the more substancial artists (like R.E.M.,
U2, Depeche Mode, Madonna etc.) release new work, the whole circus seems to come to a halt
for a moment. After all there's still a fair amount of respect and recognition surrounding
these artists. And we should cherish them as long as we have them - they carry qualities
that have gone lost along the way...
- For some an interesting fact: Duran Duran are
currently making plans to reunite the band with the original line-up from when it all
started. A reunion tour should be under way and possibly new material too. Could take the
band in an interesting direction...
- Well, we're just about to enter a golden period release-wise. The next six months will be
filled with great releases from some of the really great. Just to mention a few: Depeche
Mode, R.E.M., Radiohead, Garbage, Faithless, Travis....and the list goes on. For a
comprehensive list click here.
- Danish politicians are working on a law
to make it legal to copy music. Part of this may legalise electronic file-sharing sites
like Napster in Denmark. So even though
Napster might not be around to benefit from such a law, who knows what great possibilities
others could enjoy. The record companies haven't won yet.
Notlist
- Janet Jackson.
Her new album is being hailed as a masterpiece in the media. Well, I just think she's
annoying and brings very little of interest to the table. And for God's sake, stop the
moaning and groaning!!! It works in small dozes but filling a whole album with it hardly
qualifies for great music. Perhaps that's why all the mal critics like it...
- Destiny's Child. I have respect for at couple of their songs
but generally I'm having a hard time coping with the trio. I mean, look at a song like
"Survivor". To me there's very little melody and the song is basically one long
rap piece done by fairly angry women. Not for me.
- Madonna
starring in a Guy Ritchie film. Yes, the old mrs. will be starring in her husband's next
film. I guess it was only a matter of time before this happened but why don't they just
keep their separate careers. They do it so well individually - don't spoil that
impression. Madonna is hardly a gifted actress...It all smells a bit like Madonna wearing
the trousers if you ask me.
