THE HOT AND NOT
LIST as of December 1st 2002
Le Mec:
Hotlist
- Stevie
Wonder: "Definitive Collection". There's probably a zillion
Stevie Wonder compilations out there already but this one is probably the best - which is
more or less the only justification for it. Anyway, if you don't already own a retrospect
of Stevie Wonder's genius, then you should get this.
- Puressence:
"Planet Helpless". Just wanted to direct your attention towards this fine
British rock band still floating around somewhere between Britpop and Radiohead. It's
actually damn fine music but no-one seems to give them the time of day. If you happen to
come across this band, please give them a moment of your time.
- Santana
feat. Michelle Branch: "The Game Of Love". This is a great song. However, the
trouble with solo guitarists is that no matter the song they need their slot for string
masturbation. Santana is as bad as everyone else and often goes a little bit over the top.
In this case, he almost manages to ruin a perfectly fine pop song.
- Moby's
"In This World" video is absolutely one of the year's best. It's the one where
the small space aliens make banners saying "hello", "hi" and
"hola" and then fly down to earth. They land in Manhattan and the small green
ones desperately try to make some kind of contact with us humans. What can I say. It's a
video totally in Moby's spirit and it's simple yet so full of communication. I was sold
the first time I saw it.
- Robbie
Williams playing an exclusive live show in Denmark, to be aired on TV
early next year. But why Denmark?
Notlist
- Kelly
Osbourne. She's a self-centered, spoiled, irritating bitch. No less. And
the fact that's she's now released an album just means that we'll have to see much more of
her. God help us all!
- Jennifer
Lopez: "This Is Me...Then". It's not so much the album itself,
for it probably contains a few decent songs. It's the fact that half are a direct tribute
to current boyfriend Ben Afleck (there's even a song called "Ben"). It's
sickening.
- Michael
Jackson finally losing it. But isn't that just what we love him for...?
It's actually quite amazing the amount of cock-ups the man (is he human?) runs through in
a day. And of course, you've already seen the legendary photo of a man clearly at his best age...?
- Yet another bust-up in the Oasis
camp. Could we maybe hope it's permanent this time...?
- Christina
Aguilera. I wonder where she'll be when there's no more clothes to take
off. Probably at the very top...
- Mariah
Carey: "Charmbracelet". The fact that Carey has now turned to
covering old Def
Leppard songs ("Bringing On The Heartbreak")pretty much says all about her new
album. And that the song is supposedly the best on the album says even more. Well, she's
back and let's just leave it at that. The moans are all the same. But will anyone hear
them...?
