Why This
Album Is So Great:
This is the second album by The Cure - only this one is a runner up. Still dark
in its atmosphere, compared to "Disintegration" this album seems somewhat more
optimistic in melody and the songs in general. Still, songs like "Apart" and
"Trust" scream out in silent despair while catchy tunes like "Friday I'm In
Love" and "Doing The Unstuck" keep the balance with a less depressive
personality. Still, to say that I like The Cure because of their happier songs would be
untrue. To me, The Cure is a meeting with frustration, bittersweet emotion and still a
hopeful and naive view of love. For me, the best Cure albums are from the mid-eighties and
on, even though most of their material deserves attention. Therefore, I also recommend the
two greatest hits albums "Standing On A Beach" and "Galore" if the
band is new to you.
