Why This
Album Is So Great:
I'm a sucker for melancholic music and artists who are sentimental fools and
have this twisted approach to love and life in general. Lloyd Cole is one of these. He may
not be as pathetic as Morrissey, one of my other favourites, but he has that certain
quality of seeming quite lost in emotionally high waters. Musically, this album stands out
in several ways. First, it's simply world class pop music. Second, the album is divided
into two parts. The first with the songs (1-6) wrapped in orchestral arrangements and the
second with more traditional rock arrangements. Listen to songs like "Half Of
Everything", "Man Enough" and find yourself strangely pleased with the fact
that such a thing as heartache exists...
Overall Rating (on a scale from 1 to 10): 8
