Album Information:Genre: Singer-Songwriter. Why This Album Is So Great:Marc Cohn is the closest I get to including an actual singer-songwriter on my
top 50 list. But his rendition of that genre combined with pop and soul music just reaches
out to me so that I can't resist it. I actually had a hard time choosing between Cohn's
first self entitled album and this since they are both really good and relatively alike.
However, in the end songs like "Medicine Man", "She's Becoming Gold"
and "The Things We've Handed Down" won the battle for "The Rainy
Season". Cohn's weakness may be that he doesn't really vary his music all that much,
but if you don't mind about that and like his style, then....! I guess no news is good
news in this case, even though I think you can only do this for a couple of albums. Cohn's
third album continues his musical tradition, but in the future he will probably need some
kind of musical development to maintain my support in the long run. If You Like This Artist, Check Out:Jackson Browne, Sheryl Crow, Don Henley, Natalie Merchant, Bonnie Raitt. Links To Artist:All-Music Guide (loads of information)
