Why This
Album Is So Great:
"Just Like A Man" was the song that triggered my interest in Del
Amitri. That was back in the spring of 1993. In France, actually. "Change
Everything" is what I would call the hit album of Del Amitri. It's the album that got
them a bigger audience and it's the album that contains nothing but great melodic pop/rock
tunes. In its own way, every song on this album could have been chosen as a single. And
again, there is this certain Del Amitri universe with that very special entry to the world
of romance and the man/woman relationship. Justin Currie's way of thinking is probably
closer to my own than I think, which is part of the reason why Del Amitri's songs touch me
in a special way. Like them, I kind of find the feeling of being cheated by life in the
matters of the heart quite thrilling. In a twisted and weird way, of course. In short, Del
Amitri is one of those bands that appeal to my darker side. A bit like The Cure, just
stronger. That's an extremely valuable quality in music.
