| This is one of those albums that just have so much emotional baggage attached to it that it has to have a place among my favourite albums. Made up of the more soft and mysterious side of Duran Duran, Arcadia made an album filled with great moody tunes and a more experimental approach to music than was allowed in Duran Duran at the time. Today, the album still sounds great, but it is all the memories of the New Year in 1985 and on that make this album a personal favourite of mine. Had I just heard it today, it would not be able to make it on to the list on the music alone. But then again, the emotional value of an album is almost just as important as the music. Or am I totally wrong here? Anyway, listen to songs like "The Promise", "El Diablo" and "Lady Ice" and find something Duran Duran didn't quite have. Many of you out there may not understand this one on my list, but hey, subjectivity sometimes rules. |
